Howard Hughes' flying boat is, of course, on display in the excellent Evergreen Aviation Museum in Oregon. But there is another museum in Southern California that features a key piece of the flying boat's story.
The Western Museum of Flight, near the Torrance airport, has the original hand-drawn sketches of the so-called Spruce Goose, lovingly rendered in pencil by engineers under Hughes' watchful eye.
